Minutes 2/23

Here are the minutes from tonight's meeting.

Coyote Kitchen Proposal
Coyote Kitchen restaurant is interested in providing a menu composed of mainly local foods. They would like to be in dialogue with us regarding an exchange of garden space and/or labor for money needed to insure garden space (liability insurance). Hopefully during the next meeting or some time in the future we can have an in depth discussion with them about the long and short term potential for their involvement.
Appointing chair, vice-chair, secretary positions
To be discussed when more group members are present
Meeting Dates
Mark Your Calenders! March 30, June 29, August 31, and November 30 are all reserved meeting times (6:00pm). I forget the name of the building, big shock, but these dates are all reserved at the same ASU location the first two meetings were held. Any month that is missing (April, May, etc) we will meet at the garden, weather permitting.
Joe Bigley's Sculptures
I believe all present reacted positively to Joe's ideas about adding some art to the garden space. I don't think I could do justice to any sort of description; perhaps those absent can get the idea next meeting. For future agendas, we discussed the potential to involve more artists as the garden progresses.

Please register at the blog. You are here reading this anyway, so might as well! We'd like to get contact information for all involved.
Grower school and Seed Swap

Mark Your Calenders! March 25, from 9am to 4pm at the same place we had the first two meetings. =)

Committee Updates
The design committee hopes that everyone can make it this Sunday to help clean up and brainstorm. If you have the, bring stakes and string. If you're smart, wear warm clothes. Snow or shine, we'll work within reason. The committee's immediate goals are to develop a basic design (Andy will work on CAD to come up with a layout) and haul manure. We still need to figure out how we will get water to the garden.

The outreach committee is all set on the mission statement and has been working on pamphlets, guidelines, member criteria, etc. The garden sign will be painted this Sunday. They had a smart request that each committee have one contact member so there can be communication between groups outside the meetings. I'm not sure that this was done at this meeting; perhaps people can volunteer their info to the blog.

The fundraising committee would like you to Mark Your Calenders! for March 8th, where we'll have our first fundraisor! It will be at the Boone Saloon with music, poetry readings, and perhaps dance performance. In addition, we hope to organize a fundraisor where we can involve local crafters donating a piece to a silent auction held for the garden.

Misc
-We get to print press releases in two local papers for FREE. Deadlines are early in the week.

-Robert Morehead is a local BoyScout member working on his Eagle Scout project. He is willing to provide 15-20 young men to help during a heavy work-load day, and also can provide smaller numbers of helpers if we encounter a need.

I think that's about it. Until Sunday or next meeting,

Grow Peace!
