flyers, signage, working draft of mission...

hey hey hey--

so, i made some flyers with maps for this sunday and next. The flyers say:

Leola Street Community Garden
Come Checkout the Site?

2/5 Sunday, 10:00 am?until?
We begin to beautify a 1.2 acre plot of land for
LEOLA STREET COMMUNITY GARDEN--plus the neighboring section of Kraut Creek. Everyone is encouraged to come and get to know the place!

2/12 Sunday, same time, same place ?
If the weather is on our side, this will be our 2nd workday. We hope to start building beds this day.

they are being posted in the tech building, ids, english and history... i got the ASU library and ill hit earthfare today and the watauga youth network.

if anyone wants some flyers to post, let me know. (kayce, sorry i didnt get to see you on sat night to give you some flyers. can we plan another time to meet?)

Also, eric and matt are excited about a wooden sign that they constructed. my understanding is that we will paint that this sunday (weather permitting). they thought about doing a periodical drawing or lottery that would dictate who paints the sign. it could be a collaborated design, maybe as long as it contains the correct information. the idea is that the sign would always be changing, so it is alive like the garden. also, community members get to help with the design... i guess the people who have been coming to the meetings will paint the sign for the first time. is that right? are the girls from habitat scoring some outdoor paint?

Mission Statement (as I recall it, but i need to check one other set of notes from our meeting to see that I included everyones suggestions so far)

Leola Street Community Garden is a common place for local residents to enjoy while learning about producing food, flowers, and herbs. LSCG seeks to provide the community with means of nourishing a healthy lifestyle by reducing the cost of living and encouraging social-interaction in a safe environment built for recreation, excercise, healing arts, and education.
